Peer group for people that live in Iceland but were born elsewhere. The group is conducted in English but the participants originally come from all over the world. The group is organized by professionals in Ljósið and meets on Wednesdays at 12:00.

Experience has shown that it is vitally important to create a space for people that have been through a similar experience to come together. Meeting peers that have insight into the feelings, emotions, and physical symptoms associated with being diagnosed with cancer and going through treatment can help with coming to terms with a new reality.

The groups’ goal is to meet people in a similar situation and do something fun together. The group provides a way to challenge the comfort zone by trying new things, be around people and provide an opportunity to support and be supported by others, share experiences, get advice from professionals and learn something new.

This peer group also has a closed Facebook group where future meetings will be advertised.

The program is as follows:

October
